Salomon Gomez was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on October 15, 1953.
He came to the United States in search of the American Dream when he was 17 years old. He began working as a cook at the Brooklyn Hospital Center shortly after and then transferred into the transportation department. His friendliness, calm demeanor, trustworthiness and hardworking ethic earned him a promotion to the position of Executive Chaffeur to the President of the Hospital. He worked faithfully for a total of 45 years at the Brooklyn Hospital Center. He also met his wife of 36 years, Victoria there as well. During his life, Salomon had a total of 4 children, Sandy, Randy, Stacy and Christina.
Salomon was a devoted husband, father, brother and friend. Although he was a man of few words, he showed his love through gift giving. He loved to collect many different things but he especially loved big cars, boats, musical instruments, video games and the latest technologies. He also loved sports. His favorite sport was baseball and he was the pitcher for the hospital's baseball team for many years.
He had an exceptional voice; loved to sing and whistle and listen to jazz music. He also loved bands like Trio Los Panchos and Los Angeles Negros. He enjoyed boat rides, fishing and golf however he loved hunting most. He was an avid deer hunter and went on hunting trips every year. His favorite place to vacation was the Pocono Mountains where he could escape the noise of the city and relax.
Salomon will be remembered for his generous gift-giving and for the love and support he showed his family and friends.
