Shane Scanlan Davidson of Longwood Florida,
AKA Deiderson, AKA Vanilla Ice… The man. The myth. The legend. Men wanted to be him, and women wanted to be with him. Trudat Homie…. he would say!
Shane suffered a heart attack and died on March 3, 2021 at the age of 47.
(you men…go to the doctor and take care of yourself).
Shane was so many things to so many people.
He always arrived early to everything…we are positive his arrival to heaven was the one thing he wishes he could have been late too!
A foodie… but could not read a menu because he conveniently always forgot those magnifying things, he called glasses. He loved his Philly Cheese steaks, chicken wings, Reese’s Cups, Honey Nut Cheerios, and Kenzie’s peanut butter blossom’s. He would remind us with an over exaggerated gag that he was never a fan of lima beans, mushrooms, or mayonnaise.
Environmental artist…he could mow a mean lawn!
Aquatic extraordinaire…no one made a pool sparkle like he could!
Of all the people he touched, both willing and unwilling, his most proud achievement in life was his 4 amazing children, Mackenzie, Katelyn, Erin & Chace.
In recent years he spent hours on the field and in the stands at a softball or baseball field supporting his children and encouraging them in anything they did. Not to mention the loudest sideline yeller and could have won an award for the most “almost” ejections from the grounds!
One thing everyone who knew him would say was he was the most amazing father a kid could have. There was nothing he loved more and everything he did in life was for them.
Probably partly why his life was cut short…teaching 3 teenage girls to drive would take years off anyone!
Shane was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important — the simplicity of living a life with those you love.
He made us laugh and he loved hard…this is how he would want to be remembered.
“There are some who bring a light so great into the world that even after they have gone the light remains.”
He will always bring light to the world through the hearts of all who loved him…although he would be yelling “turn of the dang light…I don’t own Florida Power”!
Shane is survived by his children: Mackenzie (Eric McClees), Katelyn (Curtis Oaks – AKA by Shane as Cletus), Erin & Chace, Brother J Scanlan (Heather), Mother Kay (Alex), Father Tom (Kathy) and many nieces, nephews, family, and his beloved girlfriend Cassey Wilson.
Family, friends, and all those he touched in life are asked to join us at The Tavern at Rock Springs Ridge on Sunday, April 25 th from 2pm to 5pm for a Celebration of Life.
