Thomas Edwin Grether, 86, of Zellwood, Florida passed away on September 25, 2022. Mr. Grether was born on September 17, 1936 to the late Park and Mae Grether in Akron, Ohio. Mr. Grether is preceded in death by his siblings Robert Grether and Barbara Meyers, as well as his son Terry Lynn Grether. He is survived by his children Todd Grether, Jill Matsche Grether, Gaye Bowman, and Jody Bowman; grandchildren Tiffany Denny, Stephen Denny, Christina Bowman, Sean Grether, Rachel Pinel, and Carlos Pinel; great grandchildren Bowman Cash Denny and Sawyer Reese Denny; siblings Richard Grether, Chuck Meyers, and Joyce Harrington. He will be missed by his many loved ones and friends.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
