Obituary bio for William F. Spivey Sr.

William F. Spivey Sr., 92, of Winter Park, Florida passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 3, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on March 12, 1925 in Walnut Springs, Texas to the late Clinton and Evelyn Spivey.

He was superseded by the death of his sister Edna keel.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 15 years, June Spivey.

He is also survived by his children, grand children, great grand children, and extended family listed below:

Bill joined the U.S. Army in 1941 and was sent to the Philippine Islands, as an infantry soldier with the 145th Regiment 3rd Battalion, under the command of General MacArthur. Bill was critically wounded during hand-to-hand combat in the retaking of Manila. Bill was awarded two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star.

After WWII, he spent 32 years selflessly and eagerly dedicating himself to his work as National Cemetery directorship for six National Cemeteries, which consisted of location in  El Paso, TX, San Antonio, TX, Maxwell, NB, Denver, CO, Hampton, VA, Houston, TX, Bill was known and admired for his love of his profession, his quick wit and his infectious smile.

Bill is the author of two books,

"Survival Of A Texan" (autobiography) and

"March to Manila-Memories of a Foot Soldier".

A service celebrating his life will take place next Saturday May 13, 2017.  Details for the service and more information about donations to VA veterans of WWII and/or VFW can be found at Shannon@loomisfuneralhomes.com.
