In Loving Memory of William Harmon Colter
William Harmon Colter, 91 of Leesburg, Fl went to be with the Lord Jesus September 21, 2024. He was born in Thomasville, Georgia to Milton and Claudia Colter. Harmon was with his four children all giving thanks for his life hours before his passing.
Harmon always considered himself a Georgia boy and loved telling others about working on the farm as a young man in South Georgia. He was a modern-day renaissance man who could do anything he set his mind to, limitless in his capacities. Harmon hand built at least four of his own houses, he was musically inclined learning to play the organ in his latter years. Harmon was a self-taught man who mastered computer programing and went on to become the Director of Data processing for Red Lobster and General Mills Restaurant Group. He designed the first point of sale system for General Mills.
He was known by those who loved him the most as Papa. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Harmon’s life was a testimony of his Christian faith. As a young loving father his proudest moment was when he was able to tell his church that all his children knew the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior.
When Harmon lost the love of his life, his wife of “70” years, Charlene Marie his earthly body began to fail. He enjoyed talking and being with his children and family up until the end of his life.
He is survived by his four Children, Bill Colter (wife Sharon) of Young Harris, GA, son Chuck Colter (wife Judy) of Eustis FL, daughter Charlotte Dehlinger (husband Paul) of Lilburn, GA, and daughter Teresa Freeman (husband Dave) of Palm Coast, FL. Harmon was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Charlene, his brother Jack Colter, sister Louise Martin and his parents, Milton and Claudia Colter.
Harmon’s spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him, a testament to a life well-lived. To God be the Glory as he has entered the gates of heaven to join Charlene in the joy of the Lord eternally.
