William Lee Goings, Jr., age 89, of Altamonte Springs, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2013. He was born on July 13, 1924 to William and Margaret Goings, Sr. in Memphis, TN. Mr. Goings, Jr. served in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of Colonial Baptist Church in Memphis and worked in the utilities industry. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth Goings.
Mr. Goings, Jr. is survived by his sons, Ralph (Pam), Howard (Carol), and Cliff Goings; daughter, Jean (Wayne) Tucker; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and three granddogs.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
