WILLIAM “BILLY RAY” MEISEL, 87, of Orange City, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013. Born September 19, 1926 in Forgan, Oklahoma and moved to Central Florida in 1989. He was a Police Officer, WWII Veteran serving in the US Navy, retired from the US Coast Guard, Life Member of VFW post 10147, Life Member of BPOE # 2163 and Life Member Retired Armed Forces Association. Mr. Meisel is survived by his loving wife, Ellen M. Mattox Meisel of Orange City; sons, Carl E. (Barnell) Meisel, Michael D. (Debra) Meisel, Gregory S. (Robbie) Meisel; daughter, Janice M. (Wayne) Crow; step son, Scott (Ginny) Mattox; stepdaughters, Christine Mattox, Kathy (Robert) Coury and Susan Goddard; brothers, Jim Meisel and James Meisel; sisters, Marilyn (John) Notestine and Janet (Ken) Enright; 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
