BARBARA LOIS DURDEN, age 81, of Apopka, passed away Sunday, June 02, 2013. She was born December 18, 1931 in Moultrie, GA and moved to Central Florida 40 years ago from Georgia. She was a Homemaker and a Baptist. Mrs. Durden was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Durden, in 2006. Mrs. Durden is survived by daughters, Theresa Fitzpatrick of Maine, Connie Strickland of Apopka and Patricia Martin of Apopka; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
