Betty Lou Dement, 83, of Apopka, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014. She was born January 16, 1931 in Orlando. She was a Citrus Plant Worker and a lifelong resident of Central Florida. Mrs. Dement is survived by her loving husband of 40 Years, Raphael Dement of Apopka; children, Jerry Linton of Apopka, Debbie Dinkins Waters of Eustis and Jeff Jones of Sorrento; siblings, Marion Blanco of Apopka, Reba Miller of Mt. Dora and Avelina Crenshaw of Orlando; 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
