In accordance with 2-Timothy 4:7, Catherine Prince has fought the “Good Fight”. She was determined to embark on a road of good deeds. It came from her Christian religious beliefs, so it was deeply rooted in her morality and spiritual leadership. Catherine Prince worked tirelessly and tried to make great choices and personal sacrifices that helped others.
On Thursday March 4 th at exactly 3:28pm Catherine was received completely into the hands of God. He saw she was getting tired of being uniquely indisposed and only a miracle would cure her. He put his arms around her and whispered into her ears, “Come with me, it is time to rest.” With tearful eyes her four children at her bedside, two sons and two daughters watched and saw her fade away, Her golden heart stopped beating as the Lord transitioned Catherine from her grueling journey into a peaceful rest.
Catherine Winderlin Mathurin was born on the beautiful island of Saint Lucia, in the village of Dennery, on November 30, 1930, to Felecite Noel and Victor Mathurin. Win , as she was affectionately nick named by her parents, had eight sisters and one brother. She is survived by two remaining sisters and dozens of nieces and nephews. Catherine (Win) relocated to Barbados in the year 1964.
She lived in Barbados for many years. As the migrant spirit got hold of her again, she decided to test the waters of the US Virgin Islands and moved to Saint Croix in the year 1968, where she later met and was united in holy matrimony to the late Anselmo Prince Sr, on March 4th 1971.
The two established residence in the Campo Rico Community in Frederiksted and from this union two children were born.
Her Saint Croix (Crucian) friends and associates fondly referred to her as “Miss Prince/Sister Prince”. She was known by most in Saint Croix as the nice lady; the lady who managed the Army & Navy Store in the cities of Frederiksted, Christiansted and the location on St.Thomas, a job she held for about 33 years.
She was a very appreciated member of her community church, the Frederiksted Assembly of God in Campo Rico. Sister Prince will be remembered as a devoted church member, never missing a Sunday church Service.
Due to her advanced age and declining health, which affected her mobility, she was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center Hospital, Florida, on February 7 th , 2019. After careful medical evaluations, tests and analyses by medical professionals, her son Val received and considered the professional advice, that it was necessary to place her in a reputable Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for her comfort and ongoing care.
Wonderful memories of her will be cherished by her 7 children MaryAnna Weeks (Albert), Val Mathurin (Barbara), Paulette Adamson (Kenrick), Patricia Ramine, Stephen Maturin, Anselmo Prince, Fefe Prince, 18 grandchildren, 27 greatgrandchildren and 12 great, great, grandchildren. Today we bid farewell to the beloved mother, Granny, Aunty Win, Ms. Prince, Sister Prince. A precious one from us is gone, a voice we loved is stilled, a place is vacant in our hearts that never can be filled. She will be greatly missed and remembered. May she rest in peace.
