Darlene Yvonne Nesmith Hughes, 66, of Apopka, Florida passed away on July 25, 2022. Mrs. Hughes entered this life on August 20, 1955 in Zellwood, Florida to her late parents. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Dorsey L. Hughes Jr; and Andrew “Bubby” Bennett Jr. She is survived by her four children Sam D. Locke, Angela R. (Darrell) Lilla, Bobbi Jo M (Michael D.) Peltz, Michael I. (Megan) Hunsicker; her siblings Theresa Chalker, Denise Baldree, Tammy Evans, Darnell Barnett, and Debbie Murphy; as well as 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She will be missed by her many loved ones and friends.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
