Dixie Lee Slay, 88, of Zellwood, Florida passed away on August 13, 2024. Mrs. Slay was born on July 04, 1936 in Meadowview, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her loving husband James Slay; siblings Nancy Mountjoy and Elaine Wynkoop. She is survived by her children Carl(Gail)Slay, Michael(Sheri)Slay and James A.(LeeAnn)Slay; as well as 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She will be missed by her many loved ones and friends.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
