Eileen Townsend born November 24, 1931 in Morristown NJ. Died September 1, 2018. She is survived by brother Joseph Lynch and 5 children, Kathleen Morgan, John Chapman, Sandra Barker, Anita Riley and Robert Townsend. Eileen is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Growing up in Morristown, as a young woman Eileen enjoyed roller skating with her lifelong friend Joan. She wanted to join the roller derby but only weighed 90 pounds and was too short. She also bragged about dancing with her brother Joseph. Eileen was a single Mom raising 4 small children on her own. She was the type that never ate dinner until all her children were satisfied.
Then she met the love of her life Robert Townsend. Together they had a son and enjoyed weekend trips to the beach or the mountains with all the kids. She loved her kids, grand kids and great grandkids completely, unconditionally and knew everyone’s birthday and age by heart.
Whenever there was a baby due, she would bless them with a hand crafted knitted or crocheted blanket. If Eileen wasn’t making these blankets for her family she would make them for single mothers or those in need. When she needed a break from knitting, Eileen would read everything she could get her hands on.
Eileen started each day with mass. She was dedicated to the Catholic religion and ended each day with the rosary.
She is loved by her entire family and will be sorely missed.
