Mrs. Elaine Mae Martin

d. November 29, 2020

Elaine Mae Martin was called to her eternal home at the age of 91 on Sunday November 29, 2020. She peacefully left this earth while in the comfort of her home with her family by her side. Elaine was the beloved mother of Kim Picton (Richard), Pamela Lorenzo (Robert) and James Martin; cherished grandmother to 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren. Elaine will forever be remembered by her extended family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Martin and eldest daughter, Judith (Martin) England. Elaine was looking forward to a joyful reunion in heaven with David and Judy.
Elaine was born in Pekin, Illinois on March 14, 1929 into a family where she was the youngest of five children. She loved and adored her three brothers and sister and thoroughly enjoyed her role as the youngest sibling. She met David S. Martin in Illinois, the love of her life, and after marriage, David, Elaine and Judy moved to Florida. Together they adopted three children, all within 18 months and all under the age of three days old. While her children were young, she was a stay-at-home mom. Later in life she supported her husband as a devoted minister’s wife while at the same time working as a veterinary laboratory courier for over 25 years. The focus of her life was her husband David and her family, to whom she loved unconditionally. Joyful pastimes included spending time with her grandchildren, caring for her dogs, boating, fishing, reading, crocheting, playing cards all night, and telling stories around the dinner table with family and friends.
Elaine will be remembered by those who knew her as a woman of great faith, a dedicated wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and one who demonstrated a servant’s heart throughout her life. She once requested that we inscribe on her headstone “She Did What She Could”. Ask her children, a family member or anyone who knew her, and they’ll tell you that she could do, and indeed, did it all. Please join us to honor her life at Wekiwa Springs Baptist Church in Apopka, FL on Saturday, December 12, 2020. Visitation starts at 11:00 a.m. with the services to begin at 12 noon. She will be laid to rest beside her husband David at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.
