Faye Payne Odom died on August 26, 2021 after a long battle with health problems. Faye was born on September 15, 1930 in Tifton, Georgia to parents O.H. and Elon Inez Payne, one of seven children. Her parents; older brother; and son Michael Odom preceded her in death. She was married to Roy Odom, who died in 1980. She is survived by her son Patrick Odom, and one grandson Hunter Michael Odom. Faye and Roy moved to Apopka from Albany, Georgia in 1971 where Roy worked with United Horticulture and for Coca Cola Syrup Division in Plymouth until his death. The family joined the First United Methodist Church in Apopka and were very involved there. Faye worked for Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce and the present building was built while she was employed there. She and Roy helped move to the new facility. They later purchased a foliage nursery but it was sold after Roy’s death. She worked for Lumberjack Enterprise (now Ace Hardware) for several years before retiring. She served as a Secretary on Board of Directors at First United Methodist Church, the Apopka Chamber of Commerce, and the Apopka Historical Society. She also did volunteer work at Loaves and Fishes. Faye loved her family, her brothers and her sisters. They have remained close to this day. She loved Apopka and her Sunday School Class was extra special to her. Her motto was Micah 6:8 “But what does the Lord require? To do justice, love, kindness, and walk humbly with your God”
