Helen Mizener, age 89, of Apopka, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013. Born on September 13, 1923 in Coxsackie, NY, she moved to the Central Florida area in 1964. Mrs. Mizener was a member of First Baptist Church of Lockhart, Pirates Square Dance Club, Garden Patch of Ocoee, and Seniors Club of First Baptist Church of Lockhart. She loved to play Bingo. Mrs Mizener was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Mizener. Mrs. Mizener is survived by her loving children, Beverly (Larry) Loux of New Port Richey and Donna (Gary) Goecks of Apopka; sisters, Lillian Kellam, Gladys (Howard) Finch, and Phyllis (Charles) Boehlke, all of NY; six grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
