Janet Lynn Carey, age 55, of Longwood, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Born on April 10, 1958 in San Francisco, CA, she moved to the Central Florida area 26 years ago. She was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church. Mrs. Carey is survived by her loving husband, Douglas Carey; mother, Patricia Tench; children, Adam Gutierrez, Alyssa Carey, and Brett Carey; sister, Linda Laskey; and two grandchildren, Mason and Ariel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The V Foundation for Cancer Research at www.jimmyv.org.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
