Joan was born in Kansas City in June 27, 1933, she had many challenges in her upbringing. At the age of 4, her mother remarried and choose to have Joan live with her Grandmother for a while. At the age of 14, Joan was having difficulties coping with her situation and began living in the House of the Good Shepherd and was there for three years. She did very well there, and the Nuns in the residence encouraged her to convert to the Catholic Faith. THIS WAS JOAN’S SAVING GRACE. At 17, she went to live with her sister Juanita, in California, where in 1951 she met and married her husband, Paul Anderson. They moved quite a lot, as Paul was in the Air Force. In 1969 Paul retired and they purchased a home in Orlando, Florida. After returning to the U.S. from Spain in 1964, she trained to become a Beautician, she worked in this field until 1981 when she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. The cancer recurred in 1983, 1985, and 2003. Joan’s faith gave her the strength to fight and to overcome her suffering.
She has a great devotion to the Blessed Mother and attended Mass daily until she become too physically challenged with her health. She faithfully recites the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet, she was a member of the choir, helped with Eucharistic Ministering and in her spare time she made Rosaries. She was a 3 rd order Carmelite.
Joan went home to be with the Lord on July 30, 2020. She is survived by her children Cathy (Dan) Wallace, Michael (Shirley) Anderson and Deborah (Randy) Allemang as well as grandchildren Amanda Pomeroy, Angela Wallace and Christopher. She will be missed dearly by her many loved ones and friends.
Quote from Joan:
“When I was at my weakest, I was at my strongest” & “I don’t have a college degree, but I have a PHD in life”
