APOPKA, FL. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Joan O. Robinson, who left us on November 20, 2024, with family by her side. She was born in 1940 at Cape Cod Hospital, raised in Sandwich, and an alum of Sandwich High School. She very much enjoyed the yearly class reunions and catching up with her childhood friends.
Joan is lovingly remembered by her fiancé Richard T. Jordan, her daughters, Patti Machado (Andy) and Monica McGuire (Stephen); her granddaughters, Ashlee Panczykowski (James), Laura McGuire, and Maryalice Machado; and her sister, Jackie Judson (Bill): her great grandchildren, Avery and Cameron Panczykowski, God daughter, Donna Sprague, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 23 years, Thomas R. Robinson Jr., and her beloved parents Dorothy and Freole Orcutt, and brother Freole David Orcutt.
Joan devoted her life to her daughters, while they were growing up, handcrafting their clothes, and supporting all of their activities. She volunteered her time teaching Sunday School, leading Bluebirds, Campfire Girls, and serving as an adult advisor for the International Rainbow Girls Cape Cod ChapterNO. 125. Her dedication to her daughters was exemplified with her pivotal role in the creation of The Cape Cod Swim Club.
Joan was proud of her heritage, as a member of the MayflowerSociety. She was also a member of the Grand Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, Sandwich Chapter No. 221, OES, andPresident and member of the Magnolia Woods Homeowners Association.
In retirement, Joan, and her fiancé’ traveled across the U.S. and the world over 32 years. These adventures marked some of their most treasured and beloved memories together. Nevertheless, the joy she found in her great grandchildren’s many activities never ceased to be the highlight of her days in the last few years.
Joan’s memory will continue through the love she had for her family and friends, and the initiatives she championed.
Services will be held at a later time.
