Leonia Lou Barlow (Haney), of Mount Dora, Florida, passed away on May 8, 2024 surrounded by family and friends.
Leonia was born in Traveler’s Rest, South Carolina, on June 19, 1950, to Curtis and Virginia Haney. She moved to Florida in 1957 where she grew up next to and married Carey Ronald Barlow. Together they lived in Apopka and raised their three children, Kim, Carey and Katie. Leonia wore many hats but was primarily a teacher at Trinity Christian School and the church secretary at Trinity Baptist Church.
Leonia’s passion was her family. She loved her children and adored her grandchildren. There was nothing Gran would not have done for her family. If you met Leonia, you knew you were in the presence of greatness. Her warm smile and captivating energy always made everyone feel at home. Leonia was home, a combination of comfort and love. The simplest pleasures in life brought immense joy to Leonia. She loved a glass of iced tea on the front porch, cooking delicious meals for her family and wandering around Target, one aisle at a time.
Leonia is survived by her husband of 54 years, Carey Ronald Barlow, her children, Kim (Doug) Tomlin, Carey (Dawn) Barlow and Katie (Dan) Colley, her eight grandchildren, Jacob, Carson, Hannah, Lily-Kate, Emily, Claire, Daniel and Ansley and her siblings, Sam (Barbara) Haney and Becky Haney. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James and Mark Haney.
Many have asked about arrangements. The family will have a celebration of life a little later and will let everyone know about that soon.
In lieu of flowers, Leonia would like donations to go toward helping Emily Weaver, her future granddaughter through marriage, share the Gospel through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Davidson University. Please use the link below if you would like to donate in honor of Leonia.

Leonia was a very special woman. I got to spend some time with her over the last two years and she was always the kindest. My favorite memory of her is when I got to interview her for a school project and she talked all about how much she loved her family, friends, and Jesus. Thinking of everyone through this time of healing❤️ she will be greatly missed!
