Marilyn F. (Hughes) Holmes passed away on November 26th in peace. Born: May 25, 1927 in Pittsfield Massachusetts, Marilyn lived a blessed life defined by her faith and family. While attending St. Teresa College in Winona Minnesota she met her husband Robert (Bob) F. Holmes and married in 1951. They celebrated 63 years of marriage until Bob’s passing in 2014. They first resided in Oak Lawn, Illinois until moving to become the first community residents of Errol Estates, Apopka in 1972. She leaves a sister Genevieve Flynn of Oradell, NJ., and was a devoted mother to 8 children, 17 grandchildren and 5 great grand kids, Marilyn practiced her Catholic faith every day with a smile and prayer for all whether teaching children at St. Margret Mary or Bishop Moore, ministering as a Eucharistic Minister to the sick, volunteering at Loaves and Fishes, or praying the Rosary mornings at her St. Francis of Assisi Parish. She was a Member of the Third Order of Franciscans for over 70 years and a Member of the Apopka Woman’s Club. Marilyn loved and was loved by all. We will miss her kindness, generosity, positive spirit, and devotion both to us and others ~ always knowing she is watching over us ~ her beloved family and friends. A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 AM ~ Monday December 16th at St. Francis Catholic Church on Hwy 441 in Apopka.
