Mary Douglas was born in Tampa, Florida on June 15, 1932. She was raised early in her life at Gardner, Florida where she attended school. In the elementary school was where she met her future husband Jack Douglas for the first time. Her dad and mom, Patrick and Elizabeth Brogan were in the military and were transferred to Okinawa for which she spent about two years. She returned to Gardner and at the age of 17 she was teaching bible school at the local Baptist church where she became reacquainted with Jack who had left the military after War World II. About three months later, on October 9, 1949 they were married. Jack re-entered the military and they were stationed in Tampa, Florida where their son, Mark was born and later while stationed in Austin Texas Jack Jr. and Mary were born. They were also stationed in Shreveport, Louisiana, Albany, Georgia and Great Falls, Montana. In 1970, they retired from the military to Orlando, Florida. Mary attended real estate school in 1972 and obtain her real estate agent license and worked for Vogt Realty in Pine Castle, Florida. After several years, she obtain her Broker status and opened her own office. Mary and Jack operated the real estate office for about 15 years before they retired once again. During her real estate profession, she became active in the real estate community. She was introduced by a friend and volunteered her service to the McCoy Federal Credit Union. She was appointed to the credit union’s board and was later installed as their Chairman of the Board. Additional she was very active in the Orlando Regional Realtor Association where Mary held various positions including a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Board. Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pine Castle where she was a bible school teacher. Mary is survived by her husband Jack Douglas children Mark (deceased), Jack Jr. and Mary. She has five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Mary will be remembered by her smiling face, southern bell beauty and her unbelievable devotion to her faith.
