Mrs. Patsy K. Ryan

d. May 28, 2018

Patsy King Ryan, 84, of Apopka, Florida was escorted to her heavenly home on May 28, 2018 while surrounded by family after a long fight with cancer.

Born March 09, 1934, she is survived by her children; Mark (Susan) Ryan III, Jennifer (Mark) Thomas, Patricia (Shane) Bronson, and Elaine Ryan; grandchildren Timothy Ryan, Ryan Wilkins, Ashley Ryan, Jingle (Eric) Leviti, Kyle Thomas, Devron Turvin, Logan Turvin and 11 great-grandchildren; siblings Sarah (Dan) Rich, Nancy (Wayne) Thomas, Tina Douglas and Edgar (Carolyn) King Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews, friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband Mark V. Ryan Jr., parents Edgar and Rosa King Sr.

Patsy, a native Apopkan graduated from Apopka Senior High School in 1952 where she was crowned homecoming queen. She was employed by Florida Power and then went on to operate several business with her late husband Mark Ryan including a chicken farm, nursery and owners of Ryan Brothers Lumber Yard which has been serving Apopka for ninety-eight years.

Patsy devoted her life to serving the Lord Jesus Christ. She was a Sunday school teacher and choir member at the First Baptist Church of Apopka for over fifty years. Even when physically limited, she serviced many by grading papers for a Christian 12 Step prison ministry. She grew up singing in Church Choirs as well as a family ensemble “The King Family” and several other quartets. However, Patsy didn’t sing her first solo until the age of sixty-two. In 2001 she attended a music conference in New York City and sang with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. Later in life she also cherished two once in a lifetime trips, to the Holy Land and with the Florida Baptist Singing Men and Women choir to Kuala Lumpur and the Sydney Opera House. Patsy has been a member of Trinity Baptist Church and Wayne Thomas Sunday School class for the past 15 years.

If asked what her most prized possession in this life was, Patsy would say her family. The matriarch of a large family, she was loved by many. She enjoyed spending time with them at the beach, hunting camps, Crystal River and taking family trips from Montana to Alaska.
