Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Opitz

Ruth E. Opitz, 87, of Springfield, TN, passed away on November 13, 2022. She was born to parents Jacob Dorn and Amelia Rogoski  on August 4, 1935, in Lansing, MI.

She enjoyed trips to the beach, fishing of any kind, activities at the senior center, volunteering or as a participating member of Parents Without Partners, Orlando, FL; Elks Lodge 1097’s Does Drove #66, Orlando, FL; The Robertson County Senior Center, Springfield, TN,  active member; and Springfield First United Methodist Church, Springfield, TN,  church member.

Ruth met John A. Opitz while participating in activities at Parents Without Partners.  They were married in Orlando, FL.  John brought nine children into the marriage, and Ruth added her four.  He predeceased her in 2004.

Ruth is also predeceased by her daughter, Christine Jackson; and survived by her brother, John Dorn (Pat), St. Joseph, MI, and her other three children:   Cathy Burlile (Ron), Springfield TN; Carolyn Staup (Ed), Springfield, TN; and Carl Ferland, Apopka, FL.  Also by her grandchildren: Robert Simon (parent, Cathy Burlile); Carrie Dean (parent, Carolyn Staup); Jennifer Ward (parent, Carolyn Ward); Collin Ferland, (parent, Carl Ferland); Cassie McDermond (parent, Christine Jackson); Corey Jackson (parent, Christine Jackson).  As dearly loved by her were all of her great grandchildren; step-children, step-grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren.

The family has entrusted Loomis Funeral Home with the arrangements. A visitation is scheduled for November 21, 2022, from 10AM to 11 AM with services immediately following.   Loomis Funeral Home located at 420 W Main St, Apopka, FL.
