Sharyn Anne Pierce, 67, of Apopka, passed away Sunday, May 04, 2014. She was born August 16, 1946 in Paterson, New Jersey. She was a graduate of New York University and a Tech Writer in the computer industry. She struggled for six years with the very rare brain disease Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Sharyn’s husband recently started the Central Florida PSP Support group for families fighting PSP, CBD, and MSA, all rare brain diseases. Mrs. Pierce is survived by her loving husband, James (Jim) Pierce; sons, Brian Fannin of VA, Scott Fannin of NJ, step-son, Kevin Pierce of FL; step-daughter, Heather Pierce Mack of FL; grandchildren, Matthew Fannin of NJ, Isabelle Fannin of VA, Sophia Fannin of VA and Calder Fannin of VA; step-grandchildren, Zachary Owen, Connor Owen, Christopher Guth and Joey Guth, Taylor Mack; brothers, Dennis Ford (Peggy) of VA and Brian Ford (Pam) of NJ; sisters, Barbara Baldacci of NJ and Lorraine (Sean) Barnawell of PA. Memorial Service will be held at future date in Central Florida. A Memorial Service and burial in family plot will be held August 16 in New Jersey. Her brain was donated for research to CurePSP brain bank via Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, FL.
