Beverly Sue McGinnis (Dunbar) was born on July 22, 1947 in West Virginia and passed away peacefully on Monday, November 11, 2024 in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Her sister Jill and her husband Jay and niece Kerra were with her.
Beverly endured many health issues over the course of her life, but she still enjoyed a lot of adventures including the “Summer of Love” in San Francisco as a young brand-new registered nurse with a new husband who was in the Navy. She went to the Fillmore, Winterland and other concert venues frequently, and saw Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Cream, The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Blood, Sweat and Tears and many others. In the late 1990’s she traveled to Las Vegas, New York, and other US cities to watch Michael Flatley in Riverdance.
In 2004 Beverly met the love of her life in a Papillon named Wilbur. He was her “Baby” and a certified Therapy Dog and they went everywhere together. One of their favorite outing was to the Indian River to feed the birds and watch the fish.
She enjoyed good food – especially fried fish, old movies, westerns, music, sending Christmas and birthday cards to her family and friends, and dancing. She even learned en pointe ballet in her 30s!
Auntie Bea dearly loved her nephews Jesse (Angelina) and Kevin, II (Emily) and her nieces Kerra and Aubrey (Samuel) and their children. Beverly is survived by her brothers Michael (Mary) and Kevin (Elizabeth), her sister Jill (Jay) and her loving nieces and nephews. She was truly one of a kind and we will all miss her.
