Gale Fay Belt Vickers, 62, of Mount Dora, Florida, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021. She leaves two children, Joshua Aaron Vickers and Rebecca Renee Vickers, to celebrate her life. She was the daughter of Rupert (1930-2013) and Dorothy Perdue Belt (1930-1995). Sisters Brenda Belt Overall (Steve) of Woodbridge, VA and Ellen Belt Taylor (David) of Clarksville, TN attended her final hours as she went to her eternal reward with Jesus. Gale was a kindergarten teacher at Eccleston Elementary School in Orlando, Florida. She loved working with young children and teaching them to read. Her classroom incorporated a joy of learning, with song and books that led to success and improvement. She loved her principal, Angela Feliciano, and her teammates Abigail Hernandez and Carol Torres, along with summer partner Gregory Chandler. She enjoyed stopping by to chat with office staff Jackie Barton and snagging a daily Almond Joy.
A former colleague from Houston, Texas, Sharon Atwood, wrote: “She was such a gifted teacher. I had been teaching almost ten years when I had my first child. I stayed home one year and came back to the same school. I had to teach first grade, which was new to me. Gale took me and two other brand new teachers and we planned together. She was so creative and FUN. We always said “Big Fun” to each other. I would have never survived first grade with a new baby at home without her. We have been friends ever since. That was in 1988. We always said we would teach next door to each other in heaven.”

Gale and I were baptized together at Ashland’s First United Methodist Church after a youth retreat. She was my sister in Christ to this day. I can’t wait to see her again and hear her stories of Heaven’s adventures! 💙

I’ve known Gale since 1st grade, where we both attended Charles Russell. She loved God, her family and her students, all of whom I am sure will miss her dearly. I pray that her children will receive comfort and guidance as they learn to navigate life without their mother. Rest In Peace dear friend.

Gale was my lovely cousin, daughter of “Dot and Dee” and youngest granddaughter of my remarkable Aunt Lura. Gale sprung from a colorful, honest and gifted huge family of twelve offspring of Grandpa Lon and Grandma Grace Perry, a “salt of the Earth”, God inspired and love -oriented couple. We all relished being kin, and our youth has sustained our lives. Gale’s untimely passing in our time of global pandemic is heartbreaking. My special condolences to Joshua, Rebecca, Brenda and Ellen. We wish Gale peace and joyful reunion in her journey to the family in eternity. God speed.

Gale brought light and love to every situation and every, literally, every individual she encountered. I am blessed to be one of those individuals. Your love echoes through eternity. Thank you, Gale.
