Robert Barnes Thomas

September 15, 1937 — December 10, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Barnes Thomas on Dec. 10, 2024, at the age of 87 years old. He was born on September 15, 1937, in Dothan, Alabama.

Bob, as his friends called him, grew up around Abbeville Alabama, where he worked on the family farm. He was raised by his father Robert Armstrong Thomas, and Daisy Thomas.

Bob joined the Air Force on July 28, 1955, and served for 4 years.

Preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Patricia Barnes Thomas.

Leaving behind sisters Scarlett (Glenn)Riley, Avalyn (Bo) Phillips, oldest son Robert Barnes Thomas Jr. (Linda Winchester), twin daughters Paula Ann McKinnon (Harvey Rowin), Carla Ann Haven (Dennis), youngest son Mark Edward Thomas (Jennifer)and grandchildren Kevin (Lisa) Thomas, Ricky Brooks, Crystal Freeman, and Kyle Thomas (Joanna Leclair) and Great grandchildren, Addyson, Dixie, and Bella.

Robert enjoyed boating and owned several boats over the years. He and Pat enjoyed hanging out on the docks of Fort Pierce, Cocoa, and traveling to the Bahamas with their family and friends.

Bob also was a big fan of Football & NASCAR and loved to debate his son-in-law Bobby McKinnon about the races, and favorite drivers.

Bob was owner of Weirich Air, a successful air conditioning company where he worked together with his wife Pat and most of his children for over 40 years.

Being outdoors, hunting and fishing always brought joy to him and inspired Bob to start the Smokey Hunt Club in Daytona Florida. One of his favorite pastimes was hunting, hanging out, and practicing his master chef talents by feeding all the members of the hunt club. He really enjoyed being in the woods with family and friends and all the stories under the shed at the club. Bob treasured the relationships that he had there, and they were all considered true friends.

He will be greatly missed by all and especially his pups, Koko and Bailey.
