Mr. Schuyler Allen Lovestrand

November 10, 1951 — February 2, 2025

Schuyler Allen Lovestrand, 73, of Sorrento Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the first of five children born to John and Frances Lovestrand in Cobleskill, New York. His family moved to Florida in 1959, where he attended Apopka Elementary, Apopka High School, and graduated from University of Central Florida (FTU) in 1975. He met the love of his life, Lynn D’Arville, that same year. They were married in 1980. While living in Apopka they welcomed daughters Lauria in 1982 and Cheriessa in 1985. Their youngest, Crystalise, was born in 1991 while they lived in Dublin Georgia. In 2014 Schuyler became the proud Grandpa of identical twin girls Zinnia and Dahlia, and in 2022 he was delighted to welcome his grandson, Nolan Schuyler.

In January of 2019 Schuyler retired after more than 42 years as a federal officer working as a Port Director for the international airports and seaports at West Palm Beach, Fort Pierce, and Cape Canaveral. Lastly, he worked as a United States Customs and Border Protection Agriculture Specialist Station Supervisor. Schuyler continued to persue his interests once retired and settled back in central Florida. He was a well respected and brilliant custom knife maker, often featured in articles and covers of many industry publications. He tremendously enjoyed all things nature, riding his road bike, hunting with his brothers, and collecting arrowheads and fossils.

Schuyler will be remembered as a steadfast and devoted husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His joyous and giving spirit was infectious to anyone he crossed paths with. He was truly the epitome of grace and kindness- the type of person one can only hope and strive to emulate. Schuyler was filled with the light of Christ. He loved the Lord, loved sharing the Word, and walked the walk in an exemplary fashion. We are so very thankful for every moment shared, every groan-inducing dad joke, and everything we learned from him. Schuyler will be incredibly missed, but the best parts of him will always stay with us. The unconditional love that he shared will forever resonate in our hearts.

Schuyler is survived by his wife of over 44 years, Lynn Lovestrand; his daughters Lauria (Karol) Lovestrand Palenik, Cheriessa (John) Smith, and Crystalise Lovestrand; his grandchildren Dahlia Palenik, Zinnia Palenik, Karol O. Palenik, Kristian Palenik and Nolan Smith; his parents John and Frances Lovestrand; and his siblings Gordon (Judith) Lovestrand, Karen (James) Glass, Erik (Terri) Lovestrand, and Robbie (Shannon) Lovestrand.
